Victoria’s Secret probably remade the Real Beauty campaign by Dove. With one staggering difference though. Their latest campaign predominantly featured tall and thin models. Protesters took it to change.org for another petition asking VS to “apologise for, and amend the irresponsible marketing of your new bra range ‘Body’ ”
Looking at the shaky history of a company that doesn’t practice ethical production and presentation morals what is there to expect? It is one huge bowl of controversy. Rinse and repeat, I call it. The next show is almost in a month so they have to somehow garner public attention before that. Whoever made and approved the advertisement campaign sat back holding a popcorn, watching poor folks that criticize the narrow beauty standards of VS. Lovers and buyers of the garments are already flocking to the stores. They have the showtime marked on their smartphone calendars as well.
Now then it’s time to get the attention (and clicks) of those who are indifferent or hateful towards VS. And they are going to get that group’s attention by touching the soft spots and wounds for sure. Why get so infuriated over a company whose behavior comes so expected?
